UNION STREET BLOG 2012

Marion, who writes this blog, is a longstanding member of the OWCH Group and also a member of the Union Street Project Team responsible for developing the site. This is her occasional diary of activities relating to the proposed cohousing community.

Background:

The disused St Martha’s school site was purchased for the Older Women’s Cohousing development in March 2010. While our professional team led by Housing for Women has been negotiating local blockages, the OWCH group has been working with the architects, Pollard, Thomas, Edwards, in a series of collaborative workshops, to draw up an outline plan for the site. This included a ‘Location visit’ where our members walked the site and Union Street and its surrounds, taking photographs and noting local features such as building heights, window types and materials used.
